Janelle Steinberg
1. When I was growing up I had grand plans for my life. I wanted to be the tooth fairy, an archeologist, a ballerina, a seamstress, and a waitress. In the end, I found the best job – mom. Now I am getting to do all of them. I am chief tooth fairy, lost item finder and wait staff and I get to do all this while dancing to my own tune.
2. Maybe I should say that I drive to my own tune. I had to stop keeping track of how many miles I drive a day. It was discouraging. I have to just keep driving in circles around town, in order to get children where they need to go. And my husband wonders why the mom van is so dirty.
3. I am a founding member of my children’s school Parent Association. In the past eight years we grew from an idea to a full-fledged non-profit. I have been Secretary, President-Elect, President, and Treasurer. The latter was by far the hardest. Filling out the paper-work to become a 501c-3 and filing our taxes made me cry. Currently I am chairing our silent and live auctions, which is shopping and philanthropy combined.
4. I have always wanted to be a journal writer, sometimes I’ve been better at it than others and I’ve always known my husband was my soul mate. After our first date I came home and wrote in my journal that I was going to be holding this man’s hand when I was 80. We were engaged five months later. I haven’t made it to 80 yet, but I am still holding his hand.
