1.If you were famous what would your stage name be?
25 years ago, my husband brought me to a fancy restaurant in the Philippines. Now my husband is a frugal person, because he is financially practical. We tried out the “new” restaurant. After seeing the shockingly expensive menu, he made an excuse to go to the car. Thirty seconds later, he frantically calls me and tells me to make a run out of the place because of the exceedingly steep cost of the food!
2.If you would attend a celebrity wedding which, would it be?
The dinner table and kitchen stove. For 24 years, our family prides itself in sharing inspiring stories and beautiful memories during mealtime! The children would sit around the table and listen to each other’s day in school or work; therefore both things in the kitchen symbolize a strong family tradition focusing on love and communication.. As designated chef and story-teller, he would share his childhood adventures growing up on the farm while preparing food!
3.What is the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?
People who don’t know me think that because I have accomplished many successes in my life and career, that everything must have come easy for me, and was just fortunate to be blessed with the status that I have. What they don’t know are the struggles, hard work, sacrifice, and years of persistence in holding fast to my goals, pushing even when the going was tough, that has led me to accomplishing my dreams.
4.What is the most random fact you know?
Twelve years ago, when I visited the Philippines, I heard a calling to devote my life to helping underprivileged students. Growing up in a poverty-stricken country, I remember as a struggling student the feelings of helplessness and insecurity of not knowing if I can pursue my education. So I put together volunteers, campaigned for resources and founded the “Promise Of Tomorrow Global Movement”, a community outreach providing support, school supplies and scholarships to poor children.
5.What is the one thing you’ll never do again?
I’d join Mrs. International, put myself out there for the world to judge and be ready to accept failure and rejection. I am still feeling afraid, but remind myself that God has called me to a purpose, and that He wants me to pursue the difficult task of competing; so that I may speak on the importance of making education accessible for all, and usher in a glorious future for mankind and generations to come!
